NFL Week 5 picks (Sunday Oct 6)

NFL Picks for this weeks game

We’ve had a great start to the season with our three best bets of the week turning a profit on the first four weeks. We’re hunting more winners this week with three more free expert picks for Week 5 of the 2019/20 NFL season.

NFL Week 5 Picks

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ New Orleans Saints (1.00p Sunday)

The line has been set at 45.5 which looks low given what both teams can do on offense and we’re playing the over. As a guide, this fixture last year went to 88 points, with the Buccs winning 48-40.

The Saints have won games with totals of 58 and 60 this year. HC Sean Payton had to go off script last week to win a tight game 12-10 against the Cowboys. He did what was needed. But if the Buccs are able to score points this week Payton will have no trouble putting up a healthy score himself.

They may be without Drew Brees but the talent is still there and Alvin Kamara can win games on his own.

The Buccs have started the season better than many expected. They are 2-2 with wins over the Rams and Panthers and a single point loss to the Giants. They were always in control in last week’s 55-40 victory over the Rams and, on offense, they look a danger to any team. This line simply looks low for the teams involved, so we’re going over.

Verdict: Buccaneers/Saints over 45.5 points

Green Bay Packers @ Dallas Cowboys (4.25p Sunday)

These teams have exceeded expectations this season. They both racked up 3-0 starts before both losing one-score games last week. And both will be eager to get back on the winning track in Week 5.

Although the Cowboys offense has had it moments, the strength of both teams across the first four games has been on defense. From the Packers and Cowboys first four games the teams let up more than 17 points just once (from eight games).

The Packers offense has struggled to find a rhythm and there’s nothing to suggest they’re about to find it in Dallas.

Dallas’s powerful offense stalled when the ran into their first strong defense of the season in Week 4. Ultimately both teams should rely on their defenses here and with the line at 47 we’re looking at the under.

Verdict: Packers/Cowboys under 47

Denver Broncos @ LA Chargers (4.05p Sunday)

The Broncos don’t deserve to be 0-4. In Weeks 2 and 4 they went right to the wire, losing by just two points against the Bears and Jaguars. In Week 3 they didn’t get the rub against the Packers, looking the better team for much of the game.

The Denver offense looked inept in Week 1 but they have improved and registered three touchdowns against the Jags last week. Joe Flacco looked sharper than in previous weeks and, for the first time this season, the Broncos held a big early lead (17-3).

The Chargers have been unlucky with injuries this season but have scraped to a 2-2 record. In Week 5 their injury situation is at least as bad as it has been so far this year. Their wins were an overtime victory against the Colts in Week 1 and a 30-10 success over the Dolphins last week.

No result from the first four weeks suggest they are a particularly strong team in their current state and the Broncos should be capable of holding their own. They may not win but there’s every chance they will keep it close.

Verdict: Broncos +6.5
