We’ve had a great start to the season with our bets of the week turning a profit across the first five weeks. We’re hunting more winners this week with three more free expert picks for Week 6 of the 2019/20 NFL season.
NFL Week 6 Picks
New Orleans Saints @ Jacksonville Jaguars (Sunday 1.00pm)
They won 10 straight games in 2018 and they were unlucky not to make the Super Bowl. Payton’s game-planning means that even without Brees they still rank as one of the best teams in the NFC.
The Jaguars had a huge problem scoring points last year. That has changed this year with Gardner Minshew quickly finding his stride as the first team starter. The Jags have put up at least 20 points in the last three games, but that run could end here.
The Saints can score and they can stop points. They’re possibly the best team in the NFC and they face a 2-3 AFC team with a backup quarterback with an offense that hasn’t really been tested. In short it’s a surprise they’re getting points in the spread and we’re taking them.
Verdict: Saints +3
Tennessee Titans @ Denver Broncos (Sunday 4.25pm)
The Titans have a solid defense. They haven’t let up more than 20 points in all five games this year. Their offense has been less impressive, averaging less than 14 points in their last four games.
They lost 14-7 to the Bills last week. That was a tight game against one of the best defenses in the league and the final score is skewed slightly because the Titans had three touchdown plays disallowed and four missed field goals.
The Titans can put up points when the offense fires but the Broncos have a talented secondary which should keep them at bay.
The Broncos have also had trouble putting up scores this year. They have started well in the last two games but Tennessee will be a tougher assignment. Two strong Ds and two weak Os; we’re playing the under.
Verdict: Titans/Broncos under 41 points
Detroit Lions @ Green Bay Packers (Monday 8.15pm)
These teams have both outplayed expectations this year. The Packers are 4-1 and their Super Bowl odds dropped to +1200 after last week’s win in Dallas. The Lions are 2-1-1; their wins came against playoff teams from last year – the Chargers and Eagles.
The Lions were unlucky not to beat another playoff team in Week 4. They lost 34-30 to the Chiefs but the game was neck and neck throughout and there was a crucial 100 yard fumble return which effectively cost Detroit 14 points, as they went from potentially scoring seven to losing seven in one play.
The Lions are coming off a bye week and you know HC Matt Patricia will have been watching tape of Green Bay all week. The Packers have been strong on defense but not against the run and the Lions have the weapons to cause them trouble.
Aaron Rodgers finally conceded that Matt LaFleur was a ‘good leader’ after their latest win. But that breakthrough in their relationship may have come a game too soon. The Lions are a tough match for anyone. They could win the game and we’re taking them at +5.
Verdict: Lions +5
