We’ve had a great start to the season with our bets of the week turning a profit across the first six weeks. We were three from three in week six and we’re hunting more winners in our NFL Week 7 Picks.
NFL Week 7 Picks
Arizona Cardinals @ New York Giants (Sunday 1.00pm)
The Cardinals arrive in New York on the back of two wins. They beat the 0-6 Bengals by three points and the 1-5 Falcons by one point. Not exactly the strongest wins of the year but a couple of Ws nonetheless.
New York should be a tougher test. The Giants arrive on the back of two losses. However, those losses came against winning teams in the Vikings and Patriots and the Giants played without star running back Saquon Barkley.
They failed to cover the spread against the Patriots but they were missing half the offense and they were up against a top defense. The writing was on the wall before they touched the ball. But Barkley is back this week along with starting TE Evan Engram.
Verdict: Giants -3
San Francisco 49ers @ Washington Redskins (Sunday 1.00pm)
This is a match up between one of the best teams in the league and one of the worst. The Redskins (1-5) earned their first win of the season for acting head coach Bill Callahan against the Dolphins last week.
The Dolphins had it within their grasp to at least tie the game and potentially win when going for a 2-pt attempt in the final play of the game. They missed and lost 17-16.
The Redskins can’t really celebrate such a hollow victory against a team who is barely trying – and now they face the 49ers.
San Francisco have won all five games this year. They have got better and better on defense and have won by margins of 14, 24, 4, 28 and 13. The spread against Washington is 9, which is well within reach.
Verdict: 49ers -9
Los Angeles Rams @ Atlanta Falcons (Sunday 1.00pm)
The Falcons rank 31st of 32 in points allowed this season, letting up with an average of 31 per game. Miami is the only team with a worse record. They’ve done ok on offense, ranking 16th on points scored and seventh on yards gained.
The Rams have also let up plenty of points themselves. But they remain overall strong on offense under Sean McVay and if this turns into a shootout you have to fancy the 3-3 Rams to get to 4-3.
McVay will be focused on the win after three consecutive losses. The Rams were always playing catch up against the Buccaneers but they had good chances to beat Seattle in Week 5.
Last week they were held to just 7 points in a grudge match with McVay’s old colleague Kyle Shanahan. The 49ers, though, are in smokin’ form so that’s no real guide to how they will perform against the struggling Falcons.
This should be back to business for McVay and the Rams. They should catch a break or two against the sloppy Falcons D and cover the spread.
Verdict: Rams -2.5
