NFL Week 10 Picks
Arizona Cardinals @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1pm Sunday November 10)
Tampa Bay are the number one team for high-scoring games, averaging an unrestrained 60.3 points per game up to week nine.
With a low of 34 (Panthers) and a high of 95 (Rams) those Buccs scores are spread over quite a range and it obviously depends on their opponent as to how high they go each week.
The Cardinals have a similar profile in that they are a high scoring team with a leaky defense. Kyler Murray and Kliff Kingsbury have improved the offense throughout the season and they put up 25 points against the 49ers last week, which is the highest total San Fran have allowed all year.
The ball should spend a lot of time in the air and the points should be flowing. A line of 51 could underestimate how much of a scoreathon this game could be.
Verdict: Cardinals/Buccaneers over 51 points
Kansas City Chiefs @ Tennessee Titans (1pm Sunday November 10)
Kansas City’s record of 6-3 is probably worse than they would have hoped for after week nine. But after beating the high-flying Vikings last week they now have Patrick Mahomes back and can look forward to more success.
The Chiefs will be the toughest team Titans have faced all year. Tennessee have had a time of it so far in 2019. A tight D was their bedrock in the early weeks but as Mike Vrabel spends more time correcting the offense, the defense has started to slip.
The Titans have muddled through to a 4-5 record. They have swapped their starting quarterback and now their strength of schedule gets tougher.
It’s hard to envisage the Chiefs slipping to 6-4 against the Titans and this game shouldn’t be close. The Titans D could keep the score fairly close but 5.5 points may underplays the class divide and momentum of these teams.
Verdict: Chiefs -5.5
Carolina Panthers @ Green Bay Packers (4.25pm Sunday November 10)
Green Bay’s defense have not maintained their early promise. They let up 22 points or more in each of their last six games. Those games yielded totals of 61, 58, 45, 66, 55 and 37 points.
Aaron Rodgers’s offense hugely under-performed against the Chargers last week, so that score really should be an outlier and they will be desperate to get back on track this week.
The Panthers have consistently managed to put up good totals on offense. That’s partly down to Christian McCaffrey, who has already clocked up 13 touchdowns and over 1200 yards from scrimmage.
In total six of Carolina’s eight games this year have seen a total score of 50 points or more and a couple of games went over 60. With the line at 47 this is one for the overs.
Verdict: Panthers/Packers over 47 points
