NFL Week 11 Picks
New York Jets @ Washington Redskins (1pm Sunday November 17)
Both these teams have defenses which can come unstuck. The Jets have let up 26 points or more in six of the last seven weeks, for an average of over 28. And if you ignore the 9-0 loss to the 49ers, where heavy rain kept the score down, the Redskins have let up an average of 25 points per game.
The totals line has been pitched low because both teams have struggled on offense. But this game could be much more exciting than the billing if these promising young quarterbacks let rip.
Verdict: Jets/Redskins over 38 points
Atlanta Falcons @ Carolina Panthers (1pm Sunday November 17)
Carolina started the year well but have lost their mojo in recent weeks with road losses to the 49ers and Packers. They’re back at home and will be looking for a win to keep playoff dreams alive.
Atlanta had a very slow start to the year but everything finally clicked last week and they grabbed a comfortable 26-9 win over the high-flying Saints.
The Panthers can put up points – they rank 11th in points per game this year. But they also allow teams to score – and last week the Falcons played like they’re ready to take advantage of that.
The Panthers rank 22nd in points allowed and the Falcons rank 28th. With two firing offenses and two leaky Ds we’re playing the over.
Verdict: Falcons/Panthers over 49 points
Jacksonville Jaguars @ Indianapolis Colts (1pm Sunday November 17)
Last time these divisional rivals clashed (in December 2018) the Jaguars won 6-0. The quarterbacks may have changed but we’re expecting another low-scoring game.
Meetings between familiar teams are often tight and these teams both have a record of involvement in low-scoring games.
Four of the Colts’s nine games this season have gone under 36 points, while four of the Jaguars nine games have gone under 29. With the line at 43.5 we’re happy to go under.
The return from injury of Jacoby Brissett and Nick Foles adds an interesting dimension which could see some money for the overs, but the Colts are without receivers T.Y. Hilton and Parris Campbell. We think it will be cagey and tight and we’re going under.
Verdict: Jaguars/Colts under 43.5
